I'm on vacation this week and was planning just to clean out and repaint my bedroom and re-arrange the furniture. Well I'll still get that done but a couple of other cool things happened this week.
I met a friend of mine for lunch in Suffolk, VA at a little coffee shop. This place has solo shows of local artists. I was showing her some of my fractal art and the waitress came by and saw it and ooohed and ahhhhed. Then the owner was talking to someone esle about how he only had solo shows and only used local artists. I asked him what he meant by local and Virginia Beach was close enough to be considered local. Since I had the fractals right there, I showed them to him. He asked me to do a local show and "Oh by the way, can you have it ready by next Thursday?" I gulped (frame 20 or more pieces by Thursday! OK I do have a couple already framed.) and said yes. He also said I could show some paintings as well (whew, I have some of those framed already, too, less to frame for the show!) So a solo show in less than a week. Wow. And the first time my paintings will be shown in anything other than a student show.
But one of the reasons I had new fractals printed and ready to show my frined was that another gallery in Virginia Beach had asked me to bring some stuff by to see if he would be interested in showing it. I took those by today (Ok I'm procrastinating about starting the painting of the bedroom, I didn't really expect a fine art gallery to be all that interested.) Well he was hooked from the first image I showed him (Are gallery owners supposed to go, "Oh wow" when they see your art?) and wants three large framed limited edition prints in two weeks and he will have a portfolio of my work that he will take orders from.
So, wow a solo show and representation at a fine art gallery (that just happens to be in the same shopping center as the most expensive furniture store in town, how convenient) all in the same week.
I've been behind in thanking all for the faves and comments on my art. They are most appreciated.
